Nickname: Anna Runa. Born and raised midwest girl. Textiles and apparel degree holder. Seamstress and designer. However I identify myself, one theme remains common: passion for creating quality products you, the wearer, can sport to express your own personality. I take time to put extra love into every product I make to ensure it will last you an extremely long time for maximum fashion capacity.

How did I start?

Like all twenty-somethings, my story is constantly evolving. I've been sewing for roughly a decade.  Over time I learned the joys of creating garments from raw materials. Over a year ago, a friend asked me to craft him a few bow ties for his various photoshoots and interviews with bigwig menswear designers like GQ. After a fruitful feature on his up and coming menswear blog (www.themidwestyle.com), orders for ties began flooding my inbox. Hosting my online store for over a year on my Etsy site has been a wonderful experience (annaruna.etsy.com) but I've decided to branch out to an online store to call my own.

After a recent article in the New York Times Style Section, my  business has really taken off!

Thus, my childhood nickname "Anna Runa" - an Icelandic nickname combining my first name "Anna" with middle name "Sigrun" - is the basis for www.annaruna.com.

Consider this site not only a store for finding hand-crafted, high-quality accessories, but also a platform allowing me to create and launch my inspirations and ideas in fabric form!
